During October/November, 2011 staff of the Research Institute of Machinery Engineering Technologies (NII MachTech, a part of the Department of Scientific and Technical Information) took extension courses in Digital Technologies in Germany.

In December delegations from the Wilhelm Leibniz University (Hanover), DFG, German Research Foundation and the DAAD German Academic Exchange Service visited the Polytechnic University.

Master double degree programs will be practiced in the National Research University of SPbGPU (NIU SPbGPU) in cooperation with the Lappeenranta University of Technology. The corresponding agreement was signed in December, 2011.

On November 30, 2011 the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgiy Sergeyevich Poltavchenko visited the St. Petersburg State National Research Polytechnic University.

From September, 28 to October, 1, in the LenExpo exhibition complex, the XV international forum “Russian Manufacturer” was held under the auspices of Department of Industry and Commerce of the RF, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Saint-Petersburg. It is one of the biggest thematic exhibitions in Russia, which aims at development of high-tech production branches, strengthening economic relations between enterprises, and promotion of home products in the global market.

Reorganization of SPbSPU by joining SPb Institute for Machine-building as structural subdivision is started.

The first practical forum “Exchange of advanced experience in Project Management” was held on 15 September in St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

On September 13, in the St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University, the winners of the competition for best graduation project held by JSC "TGK-1" were awarded.

Basic objective of the competition is the search for perspective students and young professionals of energetics to provide them assistance in employment with JSC “TGK-1”. This year they presented 40 works in 6 categories, which is a record-breaking number for the whole life of the competition.

On September 14 was signed a protocol of intention between the SPbSPU, Ioffe Physical Technical Institute, company Weihai TSE Technology (China) and representation of the Mordovia Republic in St. Petersburg.

St. Petersburg college of informatics and management (SPbCIM) is becoming a structural subdivision of SPbSPU.
