RI of Electronic Systems

Research Institute of Electronic Systems (RI ES) was established in 2011. The structure of Research Institute unites leading research laboratories and scientific groups from 3 faculties of SPbSPU: Faculty of Radiophysical Science and Engineering, Faculty of Physics and Mechanics, Faculty under Central R&D Institute for Robotics and Technical Cybernetics, divisions of Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and B.P. Konstantinov Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute (PNPI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

 

Research Institute of Electronic Systems carries out fundamental and applied research in electronics, radiophysics and telecommunications aimed at invention and implementation of new materials and electronic devices, development of innovation technologies for information transfer and security in the telecommunication systems and networks.

Research Institute of Electronic Systems has the following objectives:

 

  • Devices and physical electronics appliances investigation and design, including micro- and nanoelectronics and high-current electronics
  • New physical phenomenon, micro- and nanostructures in the quantum and semiconductor electronics devices
  • Design of new innovation systems and appliances on the electronic devices and structures
  • Development of new innovation information transfer technologies in the telecommunication systems 
  • Development of information security methods in the telecommunication and Internet networks
  • Research and development of multifunctional multisensory controlling and information transfer networks

Areas of RI of Electronic Systems scientific activity:


  • Design and development of the methodical, scientific-technical and technological molecular electronics platform, including structure and dynamics control methods, signal connection and processing, quantum energy and charge carriers transfer processes, molecular objects self-organization processes
  • Investigation of semiconductor materials, elements, components, chips in the pressure zone
  • Fundamental bases of producing new generation nanomaterials with the intentionally changed structure and properties. Nanotechnologies of disperse, film and volume materials production for electronics and spintronics.  Technologies of functional materials production and investigation for using them as sensory, membranous, ultrastrong, adsorptive, biocompatible, diverging by higher characteristics in comparison with the known ones. Physics of active media in high-current electronics. Development of methods for high-current electron flow diagnostics, determination of principles for forming the high-quality electron flows and on its basis improving the efficiency of high-power microwave devices.  
  • Methods for non-destructive control and diagnostics of nanomaterials, nanostructures and electron flows.
  • Complex experimental and theoretical investigations of optical, kinetic and photoelectric phenomena in semiconductors and semiconductor nanostructures aimed at development of new opto-, micro- and nanoelectronic devices.
  • Development of data processing technologies and high-productive calculations for producing the new generation systems of modeling, complex technical objects engineering processes automatization, database and program complexes control.
  • Investigation of new innovation methods and telecommunication channels information transfer systems
  • New spectral-effective signals synthesis for perspective telecommunication wireless information transfer networks
  • Development of telecommunication systems and objects monitoring devices.
  • Development and production of digital radio modems for the digital television and radio broadcasting systems using the OFDM signals.
  • Development of systems and devices for telemedicine: portative diagnostic equipment, software systems for mathematical analysis of electrocardiograms, optical contactless medical diagnostic systems.
  • Development and fabrication of multisensory systems.
