Year of Russia in Spain

On April 1 – 8, 2011, the official delegation from SPbSPU visited Madrid within the framework of the Russian Year in Spain.


The delegation headed by M.P. Fedorov, the University’s rector, corresponding member of RAS, included also prof.  V.V. Glukhov, vice-rector for education, deans from sixteen faculties, leading professors and scientists, and heads of  the University’s international faculties.


The visit’s program was very intense. The University’s delegation took part in the conference for the Modern  innovative scientific and educational programs in Russia and Spain, the round-table discussion of the Bologna process and prospects for intrainstitutional collaboration, as well as various meetings and scientific discussions in the Madrid’s universities.


The presentation of SPbSPU was shown at the Russian Embassy in Madrid, and during the meetings in the Madrid Univer- sity of Carlos III, and Madrid Polytechnic University. Agreements for collaboration between SPbSPU and  these universities were signed by M.P. Fedorov. During the official reception at the Russian Embassy in Madrid, M.P.Fedorov presented the memorial medals of the Russian Year in Spain to A.I. Kuznetsov, Russian ambassador in Spain, Mr. Juan J.E. de la Muela, ambassador-at-large, as well as other heads and leading scientists of the partner universities in Spain. The memorial medals were made specifically for this visit.


The members of the SPbSPU’ delegation visited departments, laboratories and scientific centers of the Madrid University of Carlos III, and Madrid Polytechnic University, where they discussed the ways of possible collaboration: joint research, academic exchanges, interaction with industrial enterprises, etc.
