Scientists of Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnic University (SPbSPU) have won 7 gold and 3 silver medals at the International Competition of Innovative Projects.

Gold medals were awarded in Shanghai to the researches of scientists of the SPbSPUOn the 31st of October the World Universal Exhibition EXPO-2010 in Shanghai has completed its work. During half a year, the largest countries of the world in specially constructed pavilions were demonstrating their economic, scientific, technological and cultural achievements, exchanging innovative ideas. More than 200 countries, regions, international organizations and corporations took part in the exhibition. The Exhibition was visited by 62 million guests.

 

 

At the Russian pavilion of EXPO-2010 in October was held IV Civilization forum "Prospects of development and partnership strategy of civilizations"; the forum summed up the International Competition of Innovative Projects.

 

 

Gold medals were awarded in Shanghai to the researches of scientists of the SPbSPUThe Forum was attended by about a hundred scientists, experts, representatives of the international business community. They discussed prospects of development and strategies of partnership of civilizations, as well as issues related to the elimination of cross-civilizational conflicts.

 

 

More than 100 projects were represented at the competition, including an award winning (grand prix, special prizes, gold and silver medals) 76 projects in the following nominations: system innovations (development of industrial, scientific and informational infrastructure of partnership of nations and civilizations); in nanotechnology, new generations of machines and materials, energy and ecology, social innovative projects in the field of regional and border cooperation.

 

 

Among the forum participants, who applied for the competition of innovative projects were 6 high schools from St. Petersburg: SPbSPU, SPSTI, NWTU, SPbSETU, IFMO, SUAI. Innovative projects of scientists of the St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University won 7 gold and 3 silver medals.

 

 

Gold medals and diplomas were awarded to:

 

  •  Hardware-biological complex (Authors: K.V. Vorobyov, O. Yu. Kudryavtsev, G.L. Spichkin, Faculty of Construction Engineering)
  • Center for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Technologies (S.M. Schislyaev, Electro-Mechanical Faculty)
  • Installation of plasma chemical deposition (S.E. Aleksandrov, A.F. Veselkov, M.V. Mishin, N.D. Royenkov, L.A. Filatov, Faculty of Material Science and Technology)
  • Highly effective tool of powder high-speed steels with a dispersed structure (Department of plastic processing of metals, Faculty of Material Science and Technology)
  • Highly efficient internal combustion engine without connecting rod (Department of Internal Combustion Engines, Faculty of Power Engineering)
  • Methods of using new information technology training at the stage of profile training in higher education (Institute of International Educational Programs)
  • "The use of carbon nanomaterials to improve the frost resistance and long life of concrete and reinforced concrete products" (RC of applied technology in cooperation with Faculty of Construction Engineering, N.I. Vatin)

 

 

Silver medals and diplomas were awarded to:

 

  • Teaching and laboratory facilities for specialists of ultrasound medical diagnosis (A.D. Yukhnev, Technopark in Lesnoye)
  • Noncontact diagnostics of human bioparameters (D.V. Mokrova, Faculty of Medical Physics and Bioengineering)
  •  Autonomous sources of electrical energy (St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University, Scientific-Technical Center "Microturbine technologies" JSC Transgas St. Petersburg; JSC “Scientific-Production Amalgamation for research and designing of energy equipment named after I.I.Polzunov”).

 

 

Gold medals were awarded in Shanghai to the researches of scientists of the SPbSPURewarding of authors of the projects took place in the SPbSPU, the ceremony was led by scientific advisor of the International Strategic Innovation and Technology Alliance, President of the International Institute of P. Sorokin – N. Kondratyev, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences Yu.V. Yakovets.

 

 

Organizers of the contest – the International Institute of P. Sorokin – N.Kondratiev, International Strategic Innovation and Technology Alliance, the Federal State Institution "Research Institute – Republican Research Scientific Advisory Center of Expertise", Scientific and Technological Holding "Parasat" (RK).

 

 

Among the criteria on which the jury assessed the projects were – the scientific and technical level, novelty, relevance and competitive advantages of the project, the investment attractiveness of the project, commercial potential and payback period of the development, social relevance; eco-efficiency and quality (compliance with the international quality system ISO).

 

 

 The winners of the contest are invited to the Russian-Chinese Business Forum to be held on November 24, 2010 in Moscow during the visit of Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council PRC.
