Final of IT-Planet International Contest

Best IT-specialists are studying at the Polytechnic University.


Final of IT-Planet International ContestSt. Petersburg State Polytechnic University became a winner in the IT-Planet International Contest in the nomination of the Absolute champion of 2010 in the overall rating among higher-education institutions.


To the final of the IT-Planet International Contest held in Moscow on May 11- 13, students were invited from Russia, Ukraine and Republic of Kazakhstan, that had achieved best results during effective competitions among seven thousand participants from 664 institutions of higher and secondary professional education of these countries.


150 participants came to the final, including the team from SPbSPU, consisting of Tatiana Petrova (FMIT), Andrey Sadovnikov (FCS), Sergey Sulimov (FCS) and Igor Fedchun (FMIT). The team’s participation was headed by O.Yu. Sabinin, associate prof. from the Computer intellectual technologies subdepartment (FMIT). The Polytechnic  University’s students won on behalf of the university not only absolute top ranking among institutions’ teams, but showed also excellent individual results.


Fedchun won the 1st place in the nomination of the Oracle programming, A. Sadovnikov – 1st place in the  nomination of the Windows administration.


The partners in the final were world’s leading manufacturers of software and hardware – Intel, Oracle, D-Link, 1С, Adobe, Microsoft – as well as IT-companies and associations from Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan.


“The country needs high-quality specialists, and talented young people – an opportunity to show their abilities. The IT-Planet project gives to students an excellent chance to use their skills and  chievements in the sphere of IT technologies, said Igor Olegovich Schyogolev, minister of telecommunications of the Russian Federation at the ceremony of awarding the winners.
