For the first time Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnical University won the Grand Prix and traditionally gold and silver medals at the XX International exhibition «High technologies. Innovation. Investments» (Hi-Tech).

On March 12 to 14, 2014 one of the most important events in industrial and technological field - X Petersburg Technical Fair was held in Saint-Petersburg exhibition complex «Lenexpo». It includes specialized exhibitions («Engineering»,«Metallurgy.Foundry», «Metal working», «High Technologies. Innovations. Investments» (Hi-Tech), conferences and competitions in the automotive industry, metallurgy and mechanical engineering. This Fair is the only project in Russia, representing the entire process chain of production - from scientific research and metal production to the products of engineering complex.

The international exhibition «High technologies. Innovation. Investments» (Hi-Tech) held a competition «Best innovative project and the best scientific and technical development of the year». It is prestigious award, established by the Ministry of science and technology of Russia in 1998. As a result, the projects of SPbSPU scientists in various nominations received 4 gold and 2 silver medals and won Grand Prix for the first time.

The highest award - Grand Prix was rewarded to the project «Engineering Center» Center for Computer Engineering» in the category «Best business incubator, best innovation and technology center». This is a joint project of Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnical University (SPbSPU), spin-out company «Laboratory «Computational Mechanics» (CompMechLab ®) and start-up companies of small innovative enterprise LLC «Polytech Engineering». In 2013, a pilot project of SPbSPU devoted to establishment and development of engineering center «Center of Computer Engineering» won the competition of Ministry of education and Ministry of industry of Russia in the selection of pilot projects for the establishment and development of engineering centers at leading universities in Russia. Today «Center of Computer Engineering» is the only center in the field of computer engineering in Russia. Team led by prof. A.I. Borovkov, with the active participation of honored scientist of Russia V.A. Palmov, corresponding member of RAS D.A. Indeytsev, O.I. Klyavin, A.S. Nemov, A.A. Mikhailov, I.B. Voinov, O.V. Antonov, S.S. Agafonov, A.S. Aleksashkin and many other polytechnics.

Altogether SPbSPU presented 9 projects for the competition «Best innovative project and best scientific and technical development of the year». These are developments of Institute of Computing and Control, Institute of Civil Engineering, Institute of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Transport, Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, youth projects of «Fablab Polytech» and business incubator «Polytechnic».

Golden medals at the competition for «Best innovative project and best scientific and technical development of the year» were given to:

  • Project «Modern educational technologies based on the use of game theory and models of ontological engineering» in the nomination «Educational technology»;
  • Project «Multifunctional hardware-software complex» Embedded control systems – STС»

Silver medals at the competition for «Best innovative project and best scientific and technical development of the year» were given to:

  • Project «Roboruka»in the nomination «Robotics»;
  • Project «Tools for hardware support of artificial intelligence systems «FuzzyFox» in the nomination «Instrumentation technology and artificial senses of artificial intelligence systems «FuzzyFox».

Honorary diplomas of the exhibition were given to the youth projects «Fablab Polytech»: applications for domestic neurointerfaces - hardware and software systems which enable to organize management of surrounding objects by conscious changes in the electrical activity of the brain, and assembly set for 3D-printer on the principle «DIY» (Do It Yourself), which enables consumers to construct 3D-printer without prior acquaintance with 3D-printing technology.
