PFD-1 . Multidisciplinary research and meta-branch knowledge intensive computer technology


         The University’s activities for PFD-1 are aimed at surpassing the training of competitive specialists, carrying out multidisciplinary scientific research, development, commercialization and transfer of meta-branch technologies at an international level with the goal of increasing the competitiveness of the following sectors of the domestic economy: power mechanical engineering, nuclear energy industry, aviation and aero-space industry, shipbuilding, and also metallurgy, chemical and oil mechanical engineering, special automobile mechanical engineering and multidisciplinary instrumentation, fuel and energy industry and defence industry on the basis of integrating the following scientific specialties:

− Mathematics, mechanics, physics, chemistry, material science and biology;

− Deformable solid mechanics, computational mechanics and computer engineering, experimental mechanics, structural micromechanics and defect theory, fluid and gas mechanics, computational hydrodynamics, etc.;

− Solid state physics, nuclear physics, condensed state physics, physics of nanotechnological processes, etc.;

And also scientific-innovative activities in the fields of development, application and introduction of CAD/CAM/CAE/PDM/PLM technologies at an international level, etc.

One of the main tasks which are being resolved as part of PFD-1 is strengthening the leadership of SPbSPU in the fields of multidisciplinary research and meta-branch technologies at an international level in Russia.
