XII International Conference and Exhibition «Consortia Library Systems: Technologies and Innovations»

Dear Colleagues!

It is my great pleasure to invite you to participate at 12th international conference and exhibition "Consortia Library Systems: Technologies and Innovations". The conference will take place from 23rd till 29th of June 2014 in St. Petersburg (Russia) and Stuttgart (Germany). This annual conference is a traditional place for discussion on actual trends of libraries development and cooperation, regardless of a library location or its type.


The program will focus upon library innovations, based on use of modern information and communication technologies, consortia interconnections. Priorities of conference-2014 will become the following topics:


  • Information portals of the libraries an library consortia;
  • Integration of library resources and services: development, experience and expertise;
  • New search tools for library catalogues and e-resources, discovery service;
  • Electronic Library Systems: practice of use and implementation;
  • E-resources in the library: digitization, management, usage statistics, training of staff and users, copyright issues.


The program consists of two parts: the main program will take place at St.Petersburg State Polytechnical University on 23-25 of June, add-in program will be organized in Stuttgart on 26-28 of June. The main program includes plenary session, section, roundtables and exhibition. Reports and discussion will show state-of-the-art condition of Russian libraries, offer new forms of cooperation and unique resources, providing effective access to wide variety of resources in libraries of Russia. The special atmosphere of famous "white nights" will make the stay in St.Petersburg unforgettable. The venue of add-in program will become the University of Stuttgart. The reports will explain the forms and features of library processes and interlibrary cooperation in Germany, open the methods of databases subscription and evaluation, demonstrate the role of institutional repositories, show the pros and cons of cloud computing. The participants will visit the library of the University of Stuttgart, City Library and the library of the University of Applied Sciences in Media. In the High Performance Center they will see 'petabyte', realized in computer equipment.


The social program in Stuttgart also gives many choices. The guests of Stuttgart will have a chance to enjoy unique natural mineral thermae. The Mersedes Museum possess wide collections of cars, placed in contemporary organized space. The tour to Mercedes or Porsche production is also in the agenda. The cost of the conference fee for the main program depends of the form of participation and selection of the hotel level. The cost of the add-in program will be around 50000 rubles and includes the flight (St.Petersburg-Stuttgart) and accommodation costs, participation in conference activities.
